playful garden antics • sketching & painting the ladies in the garden

an 8-week whimsical art and story adventure (in the garden)

   Watch Promo

In this 8-week course, we'll be gardening with our pencils and paints.
Graphite and inktense pencils and acrylic paints. Watercolors also welcome.

Learn to sketch expressive and whimsical ladies: their poses, gestures, faces, hands, feet and more.

The little garden ladies you create will be unique, pretty and special. They encourage you, they inspire you and they may tip the focus of your day towards beauty and positivity.

Make sure to click Promo above and watch Playful's snippet.

In addition:

  • Loosen up with a loosey-goosey painting technique.
  • Review sketching the ladies with energy and action.
  • Spot and highlight details that will bring life, whimsy and energy to your ladies. (yay!)
  • Explore short (very short) stories. I am a woman of few words. Less is better. (Norwegian, doncha know.)
  • Includes eight lessons. (8+ hours of content.)

I guide you in my process — sketching and painting the expressive and whimsical ladies: their poses, gestures, and faces amongst the flowers. Accompanied by little bird. Take what you like of the process and develop your own style! That's why the course extends over 8 weeks. Because you want to develop your style, not just copy mine!

Join me in exploring their playful and whimsical garden antics. And in the end, we'll create a "seed packet," a unique place to fill with your ladies, their whimsical flowers and stories. Make sure to click Promo above and watch Playful's snippet.

In short, I guide you into a painterly garden of goodness and kindness and imagination. Woot!

Ps. "Sketch" and "Sketching the Ladies," both of which focus on sketching, is a good start for sketching.

When my son was born over 30 years ago, I turned my brief free moments toward art. Now, as a full-time artist, I create to inspire and encourage not only myself, but you, too!

Second only to my passion for Jesus and creating, I find I have a passion for teaching others. My mom always wanted me to be a teacher—she was one pretty smart lady. Whether you are a beginner or have been doing art for years, you will enjoy my “hey – we can do this!” attitude. Because that’s what I say to myself every day!

I seem to grow more and more curious all the time. So I am constantly learning and often share this with you too. Letting you know what works and what maybe doesn’t.

Join me at my blog, on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube. Some of my mini abstracts are for sale on my website, for mini prices. Prints and cards, most featuring the some super cute birds, are available and Etsy. You might enjoy my book(let): Bible Journaling: Honoring the Spirit. More on my book page.

Let me know how I can help you!

Jesus and art are my passions. “As for me, I will praise the Lord.” (Psalm 104:35)

Sue lives with her wonderful and handsome hubby, Randy, of over 40 years. They just finished building their dream home on the shores of Lake Superior in Wisconsin and winter in Estero, Florida. They are blessed with two spectacular children and one extraordinary grandchild.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and finish?
The course starts now and never ends! It is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish.
Are there any prerequisites?
No, but having taken "sketching the ladies' first will give you more confidence in sketching. Most of our time is spent on the painting part of the process in this workshop.
Do I have to be a fabulous artist to enjoy the course?
No, but of course any experience you bring to the workshop will be beneficial. If you sense you might be uncomfortable, perhaps take the 'sketching the ladies' workshop first. Or one or more of the 'back to the basics' series (sketch, color, design). All of these, especially the 'back to the basics' are great beginner workshops.
What if I am unhappy with the course?
I would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact me in the first 30 days and I will give you a full refund.
Will you teach me to write.
No. But we do mull over the ladies 'stories' and there is a short video on the whimsical story part of the process.
How long do I have access to the course?
After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.

I'm so eager to share and create with you! Please email me if you have any questions!
